Do you or someone you know have ADHD? It is becoming more and more frequently diagnosed in children. It is also surprisingly common in adults and is very often undiagnosed. Cork Kinesiology may have some answers.

What is ADHD?

ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a condition which is seen in the behaviour and / or learning capacity of a person. People with ADHD tend to behave in ways that are not socially acceptable for their age. The main problem areas are:

Hyperactivity (can’t stop moving around)

Concentration

Organisation

Inattentive

Impulsive

Time management

Short term memory

All these characteristics are common in very young children but those with ADHD don’t appear to be able to control them as well as others. This becomes a problem at school, where they are required to sit still for long periods of time. Very few children prefer sitting down and being calm, to running around. However children with ADHD find this to be a far greater challenge.

Adults with ADHD will experience difficulties in the workplace and find it hard to reach their full potential. They may feel as though they can’t quite fit in to any particular role. Low self esteem is common as a result and motivation can be a significant problem.

How can Cork Kinesiology help with ADHD?

In my experience ADHD usually has an associated anxiety or anxieties, either causing the ADHD or caused by it. The first step in dealing with the problem is to relax any extra stress or anxiety associated with it. When you do this, you can then begin to work on the areas that are affected by the problem e.g., a specific learning difficulty.

ADHD in children is almost always associated with a retained Moro reflex. Click on the link for more on this reflex.

Kinesiology is great at dealing with anxiety and stress where it effects behaviours. More specific kinesiology techniques can also be used to affect brain function and integration which can be hugely beneficial with learning problems.

As a result of calming your system down you will be able to take a new look at how you can live your life where learning, concentration and motivation come naturally.
