Many children and adults are over sensitive to touch. It is common to be oversensitive to more than one of the five senses of sound, touch, sight, taste and smell. Having touch sensitivity implies that your brain has somehow associated touch with threat. It is important to understand that the child or adult has little or no control over their reaction to touch. Excellent link to touch sensitivity.
What makes you over sensitive to touch?
Retained primitive reflexes provide a unique insight into touch sensitivity. Specifically, the Moro reflex is understood to have a very significant impact on this behaviour. Please click on the links provided to read about the method and these reflexes).
The Moro reflex is an automatic survival reflex which develops in the womb. It helps us to survive our very early lives. For example, it causes the baby to take it’s first breath. It is a fight / flight response to threat or perceived threat. A trauma at the early stages of child development can upset the natural integration of this reflex, leaving the child in a state of constant stress.
Sometimes an overstimulated Moro Reflex and the sense of touch form a link in the brain. The brain is continuously telling the body to be careful of touching. By treating this link you can successfully treat the issue.
How can Cork Kinesiology help being over sensitive to touch?
The Child Centre Method, in which I am trained, uses standardised assessments to evaluate the issues at hand. A unique plan can then be developed for the adult or child in order to help the issues and to reintegrate the reflexes involved.
I would be delighted to discuss how Cork Kinesiology and the Child Centre Method can help you or your child with being over sensitive to touch.
